Success for Māori is a success for all New Zealanders. The current inequities within the education system are evident in university admissions whereby Māori represent 12% of all students yet also represent one-third of all New Zealanders under the age of 25. Improving educational outcomes for Māori is thus a priority and underpins this research project TUA: Transcolonising University Admissions. Given the Principal Investigator is an architect, TUA Asks: how can we get more Māori into architecture school? We started with an environmental scan of the current situation… and then used knowledge production through kōrero offer ways in which university admissions could be transcolonised.

12% anake ngā tauira Māori e uru atu ana ki tekura tuatoru, ka mōhio anō ai he whārite kore kaite punaha kuranga, ā, he hautoru hoki ngārangatahi Māori 25 ngā tau heke iho o roto oAotearoa whānui. Kia whakaarotau te kaupaparangahau a TUA māte whakawhanake i ngāwhāinga kuranga mō Ngāi Māori. Kāti anō hekaihoahoa te Tino Kairangahau, ka ui a TUA: mepēhea rā e pāhaohia ngā tāngata Māori ki roto ote kura hoahoa? Ka tīmatahia nā te ātamātaitanga... ka rapu mōhio mā te kōrero, tēnā,ka whitikoroni te urunga kura tuatoru.
