Te Toi Whakaruruhau o Aotearoa, (the Natural Hazards Commission Mātauranga Māori Disaster Risk Reduction Centre) is creating a resilient New Zealand through building Māori disaster risk reduction research and workforce capabilities. We are developing and applying indigenous innovation to minimise hazard risks and impacts on the people and taonga of Aotearoa. Central to our kaupapa is embracing noho marae to strengthen connections between early career pūkenga Māori and our rangatira. Our annual noho marae held in different rohe provide the opportunity to connect to our taiao and moana, forge new relationships through whakawhanaungatanga and develop our mātauranga and professional capabilities.

Kai te waihanga rautaki manawaroa a Te Toi Whakaruruhau o Aotearoa mā te rangahau tūraru aituā Māori me te āheitanga mahinga.  Kai te whakawhanake i ngā mōhiotanga kia mimiti i ngā aituā me ōna panga ki ngā tāngata me ngā taonga o Aotearoa.  Ko te pito o tēnei kaupapa ko ngā noho marae hai whakakaha i ngā pukenga Māori me ō tātau rangatira.  I ia tau ka noho marae ki tētahi rohe kia mahitahi i runga i te kaupapa taiao me te moana, kia tūhono i ngā tāngata hai piki ake i te mātauranga me ōna āheitanga katoa.
